This was the final film for my second semester at MMU!
I was the sound recordist. I also raised a decent portion of the budget by selling cookies,
drew the storyboards, assembled the rough cut, and edited and coloured the trailer.

Sumbu takes on Screening Week!
I got the privilege of getting to direct in my first-ever semester at MMU! Pretty surreal.
I decided to tell a story about suppressing the parts of you that are hard to define. And of course
it had to be done in the oddball way that I know how.

This is a small short film I directed and shot in the summer of 2023 about the germaphobic experience.
Feel free to look at the storyboards I drew here.
This one technically falls into the experimental category, but I liked it enough to give it its own section.
You learn so much about my personality from watching this film. So so much. "No more, no more" you will say. And I will say, "Aw man."
I wanted a soft focus filter so badly, I made one up with plastic and
rubberbands. How did I make that harness? I don't know, and I was there!
For this project, I had the great privilege of going insane. Just watch and see.
I helped plan and shoot the music video, contributed most of the lyrics,
and designed the album cover. Check out my storyboard for it here.
Fun fact: 822.3 SHA is the actual book code for Shakespeare Made Easy: Romeo and
Juliet at the ISKL Library. In case you needed help with your English homework.
This was just a short impromptu project that I was assigned to announce ISKL's team for
IASAS Theatre Tech 2024, but I still rewatch it from time to time. Not just because the energy is sick as hell
but also because I love the rambunctious family I had here. I'm glad I got to show them off.
SQUAD
Back when I was in 7th Grade, I decided to make a lip dub involving my schoolmates. I put this on here as an example of one of my earliest experiences really planning out a project, coordinating with people to get it done, and having it be presented to a large audience (a school assembly). I learned a lot from it.
Back when I worked at ISKL's Performing Arts Center, some theatre performances called for a video to be projected
alongside or during the performance. I was the one to shoot and edit these videos per the director's vision.
For this story, I was tasked with creating a soundscape that evoked images of a protest.
I experimented by taking clips of my phone flashlight flashing at the camera and superimposing it onto moving television static. The result is that the static itself looks like it's clumping together to form shapes. Like the sounds are so strong they're taking visual form. I think it looks hella cool and might use this in my own story one day.
I got to work as a PA on the set of Royal Flush, by VYR4 Films! I hope the crew and cast felt taken care of.
In fact, I hope they felt SPOILED.
